During 1991 when we formed PROJECT BACKDOOR to extract Kurdish oil
we thought about setting up a Kurdish National Bank to assist in the general
development. I asked one of the well-known bankers to set up a package for
registering this bank in Europe and to establish connections with local Kurdish
banks.
When Barzani and Talabani halted PROJECT BACKDOOR, this area of
work automatically ceased.
In a new millennium we want to re-build from past experiences and
use our new vision to re-form Kurdistan and I have asked my banker friend to
move this process again so that we can make the bank a base for the renaissance
of Kurdistan.
My banker friend informed me that he has already obtained
permission from some banks in order to set up The Kurdish National Bank and he
has already started the necessary work.
There are one million Kurds living in Europe, dispersed here
through oppression at home. This is a great opportunity for them to support
their homeland and for other national banks to become involved in the
operation. There is a bright economic future ahead.
